The 2019 Audi Q5 is an excellent luxury compact SUV that is worth your consideration. It has agile handling, a composed ride, and quick acceleration from both of its available engines. The cabin is loaded with high-tech features, quality materials, and lots of space for passengers. The only real hang-up is its above-average base price and scarce foot room in the rear middle seat.
1.Q5 Interior
There’s seating for up to five people in the Q5. Adults should feel comfortable in both rows, and the seats have plenty of support. The rear seats also slide and fold, allowing you to reallocate space between the seating and cargo areas. That said, there is a large hump in the floor that hampers middle-seat foot room.
Heated eight-way power-adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar support come standard. Available features include 12-way power-adjustable front sport seats, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, Alcantara upholstery, driver’s seat with memory settings, and a heated steering wheel with shift paddles.
The Q5 has 26.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 60.4 cubic feet of cargo space when the back row is folded down. These are slightly above-average estimates. A power liftgate comes standard, and a hands-free liftgate is available.
Techies will love the Q5. It comes standard with a 7-inch infotainment display, a 7-inch color driver information display, voice command, a 10-speaker sound system, HD Radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
2.Q5 Performance
Q5 Engine: Plenty of Pep
With its turbocharged, 2.0-liter 248-horsepower four-cylinder engine, the 2019 Q5 accelerates promptly. The standard seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission executes timely shifts. A 349-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 is available in the high-performance SQ5 models. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard in the Audi SQ5.
Q5 Gas Mileage: Just Average
Models with the twin-turbocharged engine get 19/24 mpg city/highway.
Q5 Ride and Handling: Athletic and Comfortable
The Q5’s finely tuned suspension smooths out road bumps nicely, and the standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system gives this Audi excellent road grip around corners. Steering feedback is also nicely balanced, and four driving modes – Dynamic, Comfort, Sport, and Individual – are available to match your driving style.
3.Q5 Safety
The Q5 earned an overall safety rating of five out of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with five stars in frontal and side crash tests and four stars in rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Q5 its highest rating of Good in all crash tests.
Audi Pre Sense Basic rolls up the windows and tightens the seat belts when it detects that a collision is about to occur. Audi Pre Sense City includes pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
Available features include rear cross traffic alert, front and rear park assist, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree parking camera, a head-up display, and blind spot monitoring. Vehicle Exit Assist is also available, which lets the driver know when a cyclist or vehicle is coming from behind, so you don’t open your door and get hit.
4.Q5 Prices
The 2019 Audi Q5 starts at $42,950, which is pricier than many other models in the class. However, the base trim comes packed with a lot of features like standard leather upholstery, smartphone integration technology, and Quattro all-wheel drive. The Q5 Premium and Premium Plus models cost $49,950 and $53,850, respectively. The high-performance SQ5 model ranges in price from $52,400 for the Premium trim to $62,100 for the Prestige.
